Christmas 2009

December 24, 2009.  Autumn and John drove up from Arkansas and arrived just ahead of the sleet, wind and snow. Lacey and Abbey had arrived the day before.  Christmas Eve church services were cancelled all over the State.  So...we stayed home by the fireplace, played the Wii, and listened to the frozen ice drops hit the window and the house creak with the force of the gailing winds.

Christmas Day we woke to drifting snow and more wind.  We were cooking furiously in the kitchen as our 'assignment' was desserts.  Hummingbird cake, cranberry galette and chocolate biscotti.  The men worked hard to get the feeding done before 2:00 p.m.  Because of the drifts in the road, we moved all the gifts, food, and people over in Chris's truck.  He made several trips each time.  Even Hank's car got high centered and Chris needed to haul that group from Shawnee Grocery.

Ate lots, kept warm, enjoyed each other, shared our holiday gifts.  Merry Christmas.
